This 64-credit hour program is divided into four semesters and a summer session which includes a practicum in clinical setting. The medical assistant diploma course offered at Ohio Business College has an open enrollment policy along with convenient day and evening class options. The daytime course takes 12 months and evening time course will take 15 months. Typically to graduate you will be required to complete the coursework of 55 credits, including 180-clock hour clinical externship. This program will train you in clinical and administrative procedure required to work efficiently in medical clinics. Graduates are also eligible to sit for two national certification exams – the CMA and the RMA

University of Northwestern Ohio (UNOH) offers an 18-month A.A.S. Degree program for aspiring medical assisting students. The 108-credit hour coursework is classified into 73 credits of technical and basic MA courses, 32 credits of general education studies and 3 credits for electives. The sequence of major courses begins only during the fall quarter. Southern State Community College provides medical assisting training in OH by offering two programs at its campus located in Hillsboro.

Certificate: This is a 1-year long med assistant technology program comprising 36 credits of coursework spread over three semesters. Curriculum also includes two clinical practicums (MAST 1126 and MAST 2226).

Associate: This 60-credit program is divided into four semesters and includes entire curriculum of certificate program and some advanced courses.

The 2-year MA education provided at Stark State College has a career-centered curriculum of 65-67 credits, classified into 5 semesters for full-time students with optional day or night classes and 8 semesters for part-time students. Certificate: This is a 35-credit course which can be completed in one year. Credits earned in this course are transferable to the associate degree.
