Nevada Career Institute provides a 43-week med assisting course at its campus in Las Vegas, Nevada. The course is a mix of classroom lectures and lab training, and the curriculum comprises of medical fundamentals, human anatomy, front office procedures, clinical training, and a 160 hour supervised clinical practicum in a medical setting. The medical assistant program offered at the College of Southern Nevada has a limited enrollment facility, selection process occurs only once a year and program starts every fall. This is a certificate of achievement program which requires completion of a 39-credit coursework. The curriculum is divided into four semesters for full-time students and for part-time students it will take longer. Ideally, you will learn about the medical back office and front office procedures, lab testing, pharmacology and human diseases. As part of the curriculum, you will also undergo a 3-credit clinical practicum and 1-credit externship seminar in the last semester.
